August 2007 English Camp w/Liberec area Youth

60 high school/college age Czechs and 10 Americans (from the US military base in Vilsek, Germany led by Aretta Zitta) spent an incredible week in the Krkonose Mountains in northeastern Czech from August 12-18th, 2007. This English Camp was organized by the awesome Liberec Youth Group, led by Martin Vlasak. Each day had a theme and a team responsible for the day's activities. They did a SUPER job and included a variety of creative arts, games, sports and unexpected adventures. Many of the participants were students from our English classes who also brought other family members and friends. It was an excellent time of sharing our Christian lives with non-believers in a natural and living way. Following are some representative pictures.

We had a Camp Song and a Theme for each day

Outdoor Games

Indoor Games

Free Time

Yes, even in Czech they love to play Settlers.

Anyone for a friendly game of spoons?

Creative Arts

The Czech culture abounds with creative arts. All 6 teams were given the same instructions to produce a short skit, but each team came up with unique and diverse productions. Everyone participated and enjoyed the end products.

Follow-up in Liberec, Aug. 10, 2007

After a week of English Camp the American team prepared a Club Beyond Program for their new Czech friends in Liberec. This is the Christian club the teens go to weekly on their U.S. military bases. This was a new challenge for them to be the leaders instead of the partipants.

Who can burp the loudest? This is the first time many Czechs have tasted rootbeer.

Everyone forms a circle and passes the babyfood jars until the music stops. The ones holding the jars must taste it.
